Chesterfield Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Kurt Hemker Awarded APWA Certified Public Fleet Professional Credential

The City of Chesterfield Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, Kurt Hemker, was recently awarded a Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) certification from the American Public Works Association (APWA) credentialing program.  The CPFP certification is intended for those fleet professionals who supervise, manage, oversee or administer fleet services within or for a public fleet entity. Hemker joins 110 other public works professionals from across North America who have received the CPFP certification since the inception of the APWA program.

Kurt Hemker has been employed with the City of Chesterfield since 1998 and has been the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor since 2004. Kurt's duties include supervising and scheduling the maintenance and repair of all city-owned vehicles and equipment. He maintains the maintenance records of all vehicles and equipment, orders the parts and tools required to perform said duties, monitors fuel use and inventory, assigns the projects and monitors the performance of five Fleet Maintenance employees. Mr. Hemker has a Master Certification in Medium/Heavy Truck and also in passenger car/ light truck repair from the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence).  He is also involved in achieving Blue Seal certification from ASE, for the Fleet Maintenance Division and has several certificates through the General Motors Training Center, which range from electrical diagnosis to engine performance and were taken over the last few years.
