City Council Approves Smoking Ban Resolution of Support

At their June 1 meeting, the Chesterfield City Council passed resolutions supporting a County-wide or State-wide smoking ban. City Council recognizes the health and economic benefits of a non-smoking environment and deemed it necessary to support a smoking ban to promote the health and welfare of the citizens of Chesterfield. The call for either a County-wide or State-wide ban was predicated upon the City's desire not to negatively impact any Chesterfield businesses, especially during these challenging economic times. "We are committed to promoting the healthiest environments for our workers and our patrons in an economically progressive manner," Mayor John Nations said in approving the Resolution. "I believe that we will see a day in the not too distant future when state-wide bans on smoking in public places will prevail across the Country."
