FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 6, 2014

Chesterfield Receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.  Awarded by Government Finance Officers Association.

The City Administrator, Mr. Michael Herring, is proud to announce the City of Chesterfield has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2013 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

The award represents a significant achievement by the entity.  It is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.  Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.  The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

When a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is granted to an entity, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement is also presented to the individual or department designated as being primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.  This has been presented to the Finance Director, Craig White, of the City of Chesterfield.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America.
