City of Chesterfield announces new Finance Director, Christopher DesPlanques

The City of Chesterfield is pleased to announce Christopher DesPlanques as the new Finance Director. The Finance Director is responsible for accounting, budget preparation, grants, payroll and benefit administration, and personnel functions, as well as the issuance of licenses to businesses within the City of Chesterfield.

DesPlanques joins the City of Chesterfield with experience as Director of Finance for the City of Indianola, Iowa. His extensive finance experience includes various facets of the day-to-day financial operations for municipal government, including modeling and forecasting budgets, developing and implement internal financial and accounting policies and procedures in accordance to state audit requirements and ensuring fiduciary responsibility across all departments at all staff levels.

DesPlanques is an active Certified Public Accountant for the State of Iowa and a Certified Internal Auditor. He received his Master of Business Administration in May 2010 from the University of Iowa, graduating with distinction and a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy and Business Management from William Penn University.

DesPlanques’s first day with the City of Chesterfield will be November 20, 2017.  “Mr. DesPlanques has been highly recommended for the current vacancy. He has traveled to Chesterfield and met several of our elected officials, executive staff and myself. He brings a superior skill set and work history to the position,” says Mike Geisel, City Administrator for the City of Chesterfield.
