Artist Jessie Cargas makes her pieces our of steel such as her piece "Dashes". The process of protecting this art can be extensive. “All pieces… will be sealed twice with industrial primers and a polyurethane color coat. The first coat is to protect the steel from the weather. The second coat is for color and is designed to guard against UV rays.” These extra precautions allow for Cargas’s pieces to be quite durable to wear and tear, and need only minimal touching up. Cargas’s pieces usually keep to a common theme, but she allows her art to morph throughout her process of creation. Cargas is a native Missourian and her works have been featured at several festivals, galleries, and art walks.

"Dashes" is located in front of City Hall.
