Captain Bruegenhemke's Bio

Captain Mark Bruegenhemke is a 27-year veteran of the Chesterfield, MO Police Department.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Lindenwood University.   As a patrol officer, he served as a Field Training Instructor, School Resource Officer at Parkway West High School and the Bureau of Criminal Investigations as a Juvenile and Cyber Crimes Detective.

In 2009, Captain Bruegenhemke was promoted to the rank of Sergeant assigned to the Bureau of Uniformed Patrol and later transferred to the supervisor of the Traffic Unit.   In 2017, Captain Bruegenhemke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he remained as the Commander of the Traffic Bureau.   Captain Bruegenhemke transferred twice as a Lieutenant, once in 2019 to the Division of Operational Support assigned to Administrative Services and then in 2020 to the Division of Police Operations as the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Commander.  He remained there until his promotion to Captain in January 2022.

Captain Bruegenhemke has served as a member of the St. Louis Area Major Case Squad for over 17 years as an Investigator, Deputy Report Writer, and Deputy Commander.  He is a Certified Traffic Crash Reconstructionist, Firearms and Defensive Tactics Instructor, and Instructor for the area wide Multi-Assault Counter Terrorism Action Capabilities (MACTAC)

He enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and two Labradors.   His hobbies include golf, fishing, hunting, and traveling.
