Overview
The City of Chesterfield is accepting applications for the Accounting Clerk position.
This is specialized clerical work requiring the independent application of bookkeeping principles in the maintenance of accounting records. Work involves responsibility for the performance of bookkeeping duties that requires a working acquaintance with the full range of clerical accounting principles and practices. An employee of this class works independently but within clearly established accounting systems and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Inputs approved payment requests via accounts payable system and reconciles vendor accounts on an as needed basis. Sets up and updates new vendors’ addresses and terms. Maintains accounts payable files and procedures manual for accounts payable system.
- Issues manually prepared checks for various funds.
- Reviews purchase orders, invoices and other items requiring moderate independence of judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness.

Overview

Compensation
Definitely not an 8-5 job during our busy season, this position should expect to work most weekends beginning in April–October. Work shifts will depend on needs of the event, which is ever-changing and could result in a prolonged shift of 16+ hours in a day with nights ending near 3am. During our off season of November-March the work shifts will consist of office hours preparing for the next calendar year with a usual 8-5 shift.
