Eberwein Park Native Prairie

The Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts Department received a Community Stewardship Grant through the Missouri Department of Conservation to turn a one-acre field of turf grass at Eberwein Park into an interactive native prairie planting. Native prairies provide quality habitat and food sources for local wildlife, especially our pollinators. The prairie will incorporate walking paths throughout, and provide opportunities for learning about the plants, animals, and insects that share our parks.

In order to make the prairie a reality, a group of volunteers helped us plant a seed mix of colorful native perennial flowers and grasses in Fall/Winter 2014. Enjoy watching our prairie while it matures. Here are some of the native plants that are established in the prairie:
