ART IN THE PARK
Central Park offers a variety of beautiful sculptures that art lovers and visitors can appreciate. Take a leisure walk around the park and admire the one-of-a-kind sculptures along the lake and playground path. Central Park offers a backdrop of beautiful scenery with benches and pedestrian paths along the river walk and is surrounded by the mature trees tucked away from the crowds.
The Central Park playground is open. It is closed daily for cleaning from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Please remember to continue practicing social distancing. Masks are required.
The Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts Department received a Municipal Parks Grant to resurface the playground at Central Park. The resurfacing replaced an engineered wood mulch material that required regular replenishment, inspection and maintenance. While it met all safety standards, it was difficult for users with any physical limitations and was also difficult for parents with wheeled strollers. The new playground has a rubberized surface that replaced the existing mulch from the entire playground encompassed by the concrete border. The rubberized playground is cleaner, provides easier accessibility and is a better playing experience for all children, eliminating trip hazards caused by mulch for children with walkers and wheelchairs and offers better year round use.
Central Park has a detailed map of walking, biking and running trail routes available for download here.
