Bird Watching

The city of Chesterfield is happy to partner with the St. Louis Audubon Society to offer bird watching walks and tours through our parks and trail systems several times a year. Chesterfield is rich in different habitats and ecosystems, and this makes for some prime bird watching experiences. Aquatic birds abound near the river at River's Edge Park and Central Park Lake near the Chesterfield Amphitheater. Our many wooded areas offer habitat for many species of woodland songbirds and woodpeckers. There is always something interesting to see. Check this page and the seasonal Parks Brochures for scheduled dates!

Interested in attracting songbirds to your own yard? The St. Louis Audubon Society offers a Bringing Conservation Home program which provides on-site assistance to small, private landowners in the greater St. Louis area for the restoration of native plant and animal habitat on their grounds. The Bring Conservation Home Program will offer advice in landscaping with environmentally healthy and sustainable native plant species, the removal of invasive plant species such as bush honeysuckle, water conservation on the urban landscape, and other stewardship practices that promote healthy habitat for birds, native wildlife, and people. Visit their website to learn more at stlouisaudubon.org/BCH/index.php
