Bader Family

Edited by Ann Chrissos

Benjamin Bader and wife Iris had five children:  Darlene Marie (m. Lynn Lauer); Benita Jane (m. James Peanick); Maydra (Joy) (m. Ronald Kessels); Geraldine Ann (m. Thomas Beckermann); and Donna Mary (m. Carl Wolff).  The Bader family came to Chesterfield from Ste. Genevieve in May 1941 so Benjamin could work at the TNT plant in Weldon Springs, Missouri.  In the winter of 1945, he opened Bader’s Tavern which he operated until February 1968.  The Baders then returned to Ste. Genevieve.

While living in Chesterfield, the Bader children attended Bellefontaine School, Ascension School, Eureka High, Parkway High and Mercy High.  The family shopped at Rinkel’s Market and Zierenberg’s General Store and they attended Ascension Church.
